MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Rescue Church of God is to reach those that are lost, down-trodden, and without a church home. Providing them with an opportunity to experience the transforming power of God through active evangelism, loving kindness, and living a Holy life style. Matthew 28:19.
Brief History
The Rescue Church of God was founded by Bishop Charles Gilmore in the year of 1947 on Sterling Street, Newark, New Jersey. In his time he had a rather large following. In 1952 he installed Elder Squire, and later installed Evangelist Lena Graves to carry on the work. She labored faithfully with him until his passing in 1955.
Despite Evangelist Graves efforts, the work dwindled until there were only a faithful few left. They continued to pray. In 1958, God began fulfilling his promise of the help he would send. Missionary Blanche Bell, being obedient to the Spirit, began to visit the Rescue Church of God, which was located at 27 Jones Street. Although she was bitter against women preachers, God would not lead her anywhere else, but kept telling her that this was where he wanted her to work. After long consideration Missionary Bell along with three other baptized, Holy Ghost filled believers, joined the Rescue Church of God ready and willing to work.
Overseer Graves realized that God was going to do mighty works through his vessel (Missionary Bell) and gave her charge and oversight of the church, because at that time she was unable to be there much. Also, Friday nights were give to Missionary Bell to teach the word.
In July 1960 Missionary Bell was ordained Assistant Pastor of the Rescue Church of God. The church was blooming through the leadership of assistant Pastor Bell. She continued to work faithfully as the church grew. In 1962 the first General Assembly was held. During the Assembly, Overseer Graves, being moved by God, installed her Assistant Pastor, Elder Blanche Bell as the Pastor of the Rescue Church of God.
As time progressed, In 1964, being lead by the Holy Spirit Pastor Bell journeyed to Sanford, Florida to establish a work in that city. She obtained a building on Sanford Avenue and began to hold services there. The Lord added to the church. With the increase, they acquired a larger building on Grapeville Avenue( Airport Blvd.). The Lord began to bless and the church began to grow. Many young and old alike were saved as God gave the increase. As God continued to bless, the church grew. A third building was obtained at 1700 West 13th Street, and here we are today.
The church went through a transition period where some members left and started their own ministry, but the church continued to grow and flourish. God yet had a plan for this Ministry.
In October 1994, Pastor Bell (Weaver) appointed Elder Quintin Faison as Assistant Pastor of the Rescue Church of God in Sanford. He continues to serve faithfully in the church, teaching and preaching the word God. And History continues to be made as this ministry thrives under the power of God…………..

Our Founder

The Late Mother Blanche Weaver
August 23, 1923-May 11, 2014
Mother Blanche Weaver, a visionary of today was born in Atlanta, Georgia August 23, 1923 to Bill and Thelma Kelly. Later in life she moved to Newark New Jersey. It was there in Newark that her life was changed. She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at the age of 29, and has continued to yield her to Him. She worked many years as a missionary in the Rescue Church of God in Newark and later was appointed pastor of the church. She worked faithfully with her Overseer Mother Lena Graves until her demise. Mother Weaver then assumed the leadership of the Rescue Church of God, Inc.
She is the mother of three lovely children, Sylvia, Jewel (now deceased) and Jaeson. She is married to Mr. Thomas Weaver (now deceased) and has been a resident of Seminole County, Sanford, Florida for almost 50 years..
Mother Blanche Weaver is the founder of the Rescue Outreach Mission of Central Florida. This dream became a reality in 1968 as the Lord led her to build a haven to feed, clothe and shelter those that were homeless. The mission is just an extension of what Mother Weaver has done from her home for many years. She has always had a heart for the needy from an early age.
For over 45 years Mother Weaver has worked in the Ministry, and served as pastor of the Rescue Church of God in Sanford until her health begin to fail. She has labored in social work and day care services for much of her life providing an indispensable service to the people of the city of Sanford, Seminole County and surrounding areas.
The efforts of Mother Weaver have grown into the only emergency shelter of its kind that provides such services within Seminole County. The Rescue Outreach Mission of Central Florida provides emergency shelter to the homeless as well as several meals a day to the shelter’s residents and those that are needy within the city and surrounding areas. In addition to feeding those that are hungry, the mission provides some of life’s basic necessities such as clothing, food boxes and referrals to other services that are needed. Because of Mother Weaver’s efforts and those that support her, literally, countless numbers of lives both citizens and transients have been saved in Seminole County and also has helped reduced crime in our community.
Mother Weaver is recognized for her outstanding contributions to the well being of mankind in the city and community. She is the recipient of several humanitarians awards, including the Jefferson Award and the NAACP Community Award. We salute Mother Blanche Weaver for all of her labor.
